History of the Company
Caxtons is a general practice firm of Chartered Surveyors with several offices in Kent. We have branches in Gravesend, Gillingham and Canterbury. Gravesend is the Head office where approximately 60 people are employed. The office mainly deals with the management of clients’ properties and the provision of professional property services. In total the company has in the region of 90 staff.
The company was formed in 1990 but, through its previous partnership, traces its roots in Gravesend back to 1770.
Regulated by RICS.

JOB SPECIFICATION
Position: Commercial Agency Assistant & Secretary (Part-Time fixed term contract for 6 - 8 months)
Department: Commercial Agency & Professional
Location: 1 Castle Street, Canterbury CT1 2QF
Responsible to: Daniel Thackray & James Logan
Remuneration: Salary to be commensurate with experience. The salary will be paid monthly in arrears by credit transfer on 25th day of each month or the nearest working day thereafter.
Purpose: Assisting with all aspects of Commercial Agency and general secretarial work.
Brief Summary of Duties:
Assisting in the marketing and sale/letting of commercial property in east Kent, including dealing with applicants, clients and undertaking some proeprty viewings. Typing, collating and binding reports and general correspondence. Using our database to record applicants, mailing property details and uploading property details to our website. General secretarial duties and other comparable duties as To deal with day-to-day Student Lettings work, including enquiries, viewings, negotiations, administration, marketing & promotion of available properties , the department and Caxtons. Dealing with existing Landlords, meeting/contacting new and potential Landlords. Carrying out property inspections, appraisals, report writing and property maintenance issues. Arranging works orders with approved contractors.
Computer Packages:
Word, Excel, Outlook – Essential CFP - desireable.
Skills:
Clean driving licence and own car. To work on their own initiaive and as part of a team, excellent interpersonal skills and sound IT skills.
Experience: Property Lettings and Management
Qualifications: GCSE English & Maths minimum and ARLA
Personal Qualities: Enthusiastic, flexible, willing to learn new skills, ability to work well in a small team and to work under pressure.
OTHER INFORMATION
Hours: Three days per week 9.00 am to 5.30 pm with one hour for lunch. .
Training: Appropriate in-office training will be provided for which additional, remunerated hours, may need to be worked.
Holiday Entitlement: The holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December. In each holiday year the holiday entitlement will be 20 holiday days, and after one year's service one additional days holiday for each full year of service completed by 31st December in each year up to a maximum of 5 additional days.
Sick Pay: 5 days per annum less any SSP payable
Probationary Period: The first three months of employment will be probationary.
