Leases on properties in the student market are traditionally signed-up between November and the beginning of March, for the following academic year. This particular property in Canterbury was slower to let than usual, so we scheduled a meeting with the landlord to discuss solutions on how to make it a more attractive and desirable prospect.
One of the Student Lettings team members met the landlord at the property, and made a number of recommendations to address the issue of take-up.
The advice included re-carpeting in certain areas, redecorating throughout in neutral colours with feature walls in order to promote a feeling of space and light, new furniture, curtains and light shades in every room.
The landlord agreed with all of the recommended improvements and whilst the works were in progress we conducted viewings. Happily, one group of students looked around and took the property straight away.
